SPIRIT LAKE, IA - Sherry Jorgensen, age 71, of Spirit Lake, passed away Sunday, April 25, 2010, at her home in Spirit Lake. She was born on September 17, 1938, in Eagle Grove, Iowa, to Clifford and Vera (Fairchild) Boring. Sherry graduated from Eagle Grove High School in 1954. She was united in marriage to Wallace Jorgensen on December 8, 1956, in Eagle Grove. Sherry worked for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company in Eagle Grove and Spirit Lake, before going to work for First Bank and Trust in Spirit Lake, for 37 years as a bank Vice-President.

Sherry was a past president of the Spirit Lake Sunrise Kiwanis, taught Sunday School at the United Methodist Church, along with serving on many church committees, a board member of the Okoboji Summer Theater and Camp Foster YMCA and has spent countless hours volunteering in the community. Wally and Sherry always participated in the Oaxaca Street Children Program in Mexico, where they adopted many children. Sherry enjoyed spending her spare time traveling, bowling, baking, creating ceramic crafts and her true passion was her granddaughters, Libby and Alexa.

Sherry is survived by her husband, Wally Jorgensen of Spirit Lake; a son, Brian Jorgensen of Spirit Lake; a daughter, Rebecca Tollefson of Spirit Lake; granddaughters, Libby and Alexa Rodawig of Spirit Lake; sisters, Billee Jorgensen, and her husband, Jerry, Judy Kahler, and her husband, Terry, Rosemary Johnson, and her husband, Art, all of Fort Dodge; a sister-in-law, Gloria Boring of Merryville, Tennessee; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Jackson Rodawig; and a brother, Forrest Boring.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00A.M. Wednesday, April 28, 2010, at the United Methodist Church in Spirit Lake. Visitation will be held Tuesday, from 5:00P.M. until 7:00P.M. at the Schuchert Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Sherry's name to the United Methodist Church. The Schuchert Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
