November 25, 2009Stewart Osborn Eittreim was born April 21, 1920, in Jewell, IA to Gustave and Anna Elizabeth (Olson) Eittreim. He attended rural schools at Thor and Eagle Grove High School. In September of 1942, he was called to serve in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was honorably discharged in August of 1944. On November 27, 1943, he was married to S. Ilene Berg at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Jewell. Stewart worked for Van Diest Supply and retired in 1982.
Death came to Stewart early Saturday morning, November 21, 2009, at the Crestview Manor in Webster City, IA. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Ilene of Ellsworth; daughter Jane Barkema of Jewell; sons Dennis and wife Joan Eittreim of Laguna Hills, CA and Brian and his wife Kathy Eittreim of Ellsworth; eight grandchildren, Scott (Sandy) Barkema of Ellsworth, Jay Barkema of Jewell, Karla Barkema (Nate Rohe) of Clive, Jeffrey (Lauren) Eittreim of Ladder Ranch, CA, Mallory Eittreim of Laguna Hills, CA, Amy (Jason) Becker of Williamsburg, Krista Eittreim of Ankeny, Kelly (Dustin) Frette of Lincoln, NE; two great-grandchildren Alexander Barkema and Griffin Becker; two step great-granddaughters Lindsey (Chris) Carrow of Des Moines and Courtney (Todd) Mason of Ankeny; and one step great-great-grandson Max Carrow; one brother-in-law Thomas Sebber of Atlantic; and one sister-in-law Leota Berg of Jewell; along with many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother and sister-in-law Merle and Esther Eittreim, his sister Lorene Sebber and son-in-law Dick Barkema.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church, Ellsworth, Iowa and Ellsworth EMS. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 25, 2009 at 10:00 am at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ellsworth, IA. Boeke Funeral Home of Radclife is in charge of arrangements. Stewart will be buried at Evergreen Cemetery in Jewell, IA.
