Uralee Mae Walk, the daughter of Vernon and Pearl (Koehler) Walk, was born on May 17, 1933, in Grafton. Lee graduated from Manly High School. She then went on to continue her post secondary education for two years at Iowa State Teacher's College in Cedar Falls. While there she met her future husband, life partner, and best friend, Howard G. Dorman. The two later married on June 16, 1957, at Mason City. Lee and Howard's union was blessed with two sons, Todd and Joel Dorman. Lee was a preschool and kindergarten teacher for many years of her life, including tenures in Waterloo, Spirit Lake, Woden, Crystal Lake, and in Nora Springs. She chose this profession not only for her belief in a good education, but also for her life long adoration, passion, and love for children and young people. Lee's family was always foremost in her life and her children and grandchildren were the apple of her eye. She was proud of all they accomplished in their lives regardless of how big or how small, she took pride in them all. In her eye's she never found any fault in her grandchildren. Lee's love for Howard, her children and their families was boundless and she always went the extra mile for each one of them. She was always curious about what was happening in each of the lives of her family members and constantly focused and worried about their well being. Lee loved the holidays and working along side her husband Howard as they decorated their home for the various seasons of the year. Her home was always decorated with her loving hands and her many special touches. She looked forward to any opportunity to spend time with her family. Whether it was cooking them a feast at the holidays or going to one of their many extra-curricular activities. Lee had been in attendance as a spectator at ballgames that her children and grandchildren played in and been the number one cheerleader for hundreds upon hundreds of games that her husband Howard had coached during her life. Lee truly enjoyed the outdoors and her beautiful yard filled with wild violets, lilacs, rose bushes, wildflowers, and so many other flowers. She loved animals and the many visitors from the woods in their backyard. Lee loved caring for her many pets over the years and was especially fond of her cats. Lee loved to relax with Howard and her family around the glow of her favorite fireplace. She would also look forward to an exciting excursion to Wal-Mart or to another shopping venue. Though she was never one for the spotlight or being in the forefront of people, in earlier years of her life one might find her enjoying her love of tap dancing and singing. Lee was a long time member of Trinity Lutheran Church and a past member of the Belmond Hospital Ladies Auxiliary.

Those who were privileged enough to share in Lee's life and fortunate enough to cross in her life journey, including her family and friends will remember her as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, teacher, and friend. A beautiful lady inside and out, her passion was for her family, a caretaker who gave unselfishly of her love and talents. Her legacy and memory will live on in lives of her life partner and husband of almost 53 years, Howard Dorman, 1556 Taylor Ave., Belmond; her sons, Todd (Catherine) Dorman, Cedar Rapids, and Joel (Lori) Dorman, Pella; six grandchildren, Ashley, Jennifer, Nicholas, Jake, Tess, and Ella Dorman; a brother, Tom (Violet) Walk, Grafton; and nephews, Mike Walk and Scott (Mindy) Walk; and countless friends and former students whose lives she had shared in. Lee was preceded in death by her parents. Andrews Funeral Home, Belmond.
