Emmett R. Carr, son of George Albert and Sarah Etta Carr, was born on a farm near Latimer on February 6, 1889, and passed away September 18, 1967 at the age of 78 years, 7 months, 12 days, having lived his entire life within a ten mile radius of the town of Rowan. On January 8, 1913 he was united in marriage to Leona Huntington of Alexander, Iowa. Three daughters and one son blessed this home. They are (Fern) Mrs. Clair Hill, Rowan; (Lillian) Mrs. Wesley Azeltine, Latimer; (Iris) Mrs. Ernest Nelsen, Rowan and Arnold Carr of Hampton. He was baptized into the Christian faith with his family in the year of 1938. On January 8, 1963 they were privileged to observe their 50th wedding anniversary. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and one brother. He is survived by his wife, three daughters, one son, twelve grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
