Wendell Peet, 60, of New Providence, Iowa, passed away Monday, May 30, 2005, at his home. Memorial services for Wendell Peet will be 10:00 am Saturday, June 4th at the Honey Creek New Providence Friends Church with a time of visitation following the services. The Linn’s Funeral Homes Iowa Falls Chapel has been entrusted with the arrangements. Memorials may be directed to the family c/o his wife Cynthia Peet, Post Office Box 64, New Providence, Iowa, 50206.

Wendell Lyle Peet was born August 12, 1944, at Iowa Falls, Iowa, the son of Russell Lyle and Mable Louise [Hutzel] Peet. He attended the Popejoy Community Schools, and graduated from the Alden, Iowa High School with the class of 1962. As a young man Wendell took on the added responsibility of helping to raise and support his brothers and sister. Wendell enlisted in the United State Air Force on May 29, 1963, serving as an Instrument Repairman with the 95th CAMS of the Stategic Air Command, being honorably discharged on May 18, 1967. On December 14, 1963, he was united in marriage to Cynthia Bernadette Raska at the First Christian Church, Iowa Falls, Iowa. To this union four children were born: Darrell D., Michelle R., Tracy L., and Wendi J. He did what he needed to provide for his family and lived a happy, fulfilling life. He was last employed with Steding Construction Co. of Steamboat Rock, Iowa, and had been previously employed with Heffelmeier Construction Co. of Hampton, Iowa. Prior to that, Wendell was employed for 30 years with Iowa Prestressed Concrete of Iowa Falls. Wendell enjoyed spending time with his nephew Matt hunting and restoring tractors. He also collected many things, including Arrowheads, meat cleavers, razors, coins, airplanes, records, and much more. He especially enjoyed the many miles walking while hunting mushrooms. Wendell did not know the word “NO” to anyone who needed help

Wendell Peet is survived by his loving wife: Cynthia Peet of New Providence, Iowa; his children: Darrell Peet and wife April of Cypress, California, Michelle Chaplin and husband Jamie of Steamboat Rock, Iowa, Tracy Peet and partner Shayne Jennings of Corwith, Iowa, Wendi Peet and partner Richard Holman of Eldora, Iowa; sixteen grandchildren; two brothers: Jerry Peet and wife Phyllis of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Marlyn Peet and wife Mary of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and one sister: Diane Clark and husband Frank of Grundy Center, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents: Russell and Mable Peet; and one brother: Ronald Peet.
