Nellie White, 80, of Popejoy, Iowa, passed away Friday, November 4, 2005, at the Franklin County General Hospital, Hampton, Iowa. Private services for Nellie White will be held per her request. The Linn’s Funeral Homes Iowa Falls Chapel has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Nellie Margaret Peterson was born June 22, 1925, at her parent’s farm home in Franklin County, Iowa, the daughter of Oscar Wilmer and May Irene [Donaldson] Peterson. She attended the Oakland Valley #8 School and graduated from the Popejoy High School as Valedictorian in 1942. On January 29, 1944, she was united in marriage to Max Clifton White at Hampton, Iowa. To this union two children were born: Molly and Marlo. She worked in restaurants in Popejoy, Iowa for a couple of years before they were married and then farmed with her husband southwest of Popejoy. She was a member of the Popejoy United Methodist Church and the Women’s Society of the church serving as its treasure for many years. She was also a member of the Hampton Historical Society.

Nellie White is survived by her children: Molly Hammervold and husband Mike of Mason City, Iowa; her son: Marlo White and wife Roshawna of Webster City, Iowa; four grandchildren: Travis Hammervold of Mason City, Iowa, Trisha O’Hern and husband Troy of Mason City, Iowa, Shanda Bergantzel and husband Derrick of Webster City, Iowa, Rusty Grove; four great grandchildren; Carter, Lauren, and Colton O’Hern of Mason City, Iowa, Dylan Bergantzel of Webster City, Iowa; one sister: Karen Classon and her husband Gary of Hiawatha, Iowa; one brother: Merle Peterson and wife Beverly of Alden, Iowa; and one sister-in-law: Dorothy Peterson of Alden, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents: Oscar and May Peterson; her husband: Max White; and one brother: James Peterson.
