January 12, 1922Mrs. Louise Callesen nee Sorgenfrei, was born in Schleswig, Denmark, January 7, 1834, and passed away at her home in this town on the 5th of January, 1922, aged 87 years, 11 months and 29 days. Before leaving the Old Country she was united in marriage to Mr. Calla Callesen on the 12th of December, 1861. She has been a resident of America since 1882, when, with her husband she emigrated to this country and located at Wilton Junction of this state, where she lived 10 years. After the elapse of time she moved to Lu Verne, residing there 5 years. Finally she came to Renwick living here 24 years.
Her life was accompanied by sad occurrences. Already in the Old Country two sons died in infancy; one of them a twin brother to Mr. John Callesen. Here in Renwick, one daughter Mrs. Anna Ramm passed away at the age of 30, as also a son at the age of 24. Finally also her husband, here in Renwick, preceded her in death, Oct. 3, 1913.
The deceased was of a kindly disposition, an excellent neighbor, and devoted wife and mother, an exemplary Christian character, who by special request wishes to thank all neighbors, yes everyone, for all kindness bestowed upon her.
She leaves to mourn her loss, one daughter, Mrs. J. H. Tanck; one son, Mr. John Callesen; seven grand-children, and ten great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at the Lutheran church at 1 o’clock Sunday afternoon conducted by Rev. L W. Reuther. Internment was made in Glenwood cemetery at Goldfield. Those from out of town in attendance at the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Nels Pahus of Cedar Falls, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Jensen of Humboldt, Iowa; Mr. John Vaughan of Bennett, Iowa, and Mr. August Griebel of Ceylon, Minnesota.
