The Renwick Times - Renwick, Iowa
October 9, 1913Calla Callesen passed away at his home in Renwick, Friday morning at 12:30, October 3rd, 1913. Calle Callesen was a true and upright Christian. All his life he was a faithful member of the Evangelical Lutheran church, and his church surely mourns the loss of such a member. He was born in North slesvic, Prussia on Feb 20, 1835. The days of his youth he spent in the old country. On the 10th day of December, 1861 he was married to Louise M. Sorgenfrey. Their marriage was blessed by six children, four sons and two daughters. Two sons died in Prussia. In the year 1882 he came to America with his family and for ten years lived in Wilton Junction, Iowa. In 1892 he moved to Lu Verne where their daughter Anna died. Five years later he came to Renwick and while living there their son Jeppe died.
He leaves to mourn his taking away, his loving and devoted wife, two children, John and Mrs. J. H. Tanck, seven grand children and two great grand children.
The funeral services were held in the Lutheran church Sunday, Oct. 5th. Conducted by the pastor, Rev. Mall; after which the remains were laid to rest in the Goldfield cemetery.
The love and esteem in which the deceased was held was manifested by the large gathering of friends from far and near who came to pay their last respects to the one gone from their midst.
“Be thou faithful unto death, and he will give thee a crown of life.”
