Funeral services were held Friday, October 20, at the St Paul Lutheran church for J. H. Tanck. Rev. R. J. Huck delivered the sermon and Mrs. Huck sang two solos "Blessed be the tie That Binds' and "Abide With Me."

J. H. Tanck; son of John and Christena Lentge Tanck was born In Schlesvlg, Germany, September 12th, 1861. Me passed away at his home Wednesday morning, October 18, 1944, after falling health at the age of 83 years, 1 month and 6 days. He came to this country at the age of 4 with his parents and one sister, Mary, in a sail boat and located at Davenport, Iowa. A sister Emma, was born here. His father was a gardener and dairyman. In 1881 he moved with his parents to the farm, south of Renwick where his son Calla now resides. On February 24, 1889 he was married to Metta Callesen at Wilton Junction, Iowa, They farmed a few years, then moved to Renwick in 1895. For many years he was in partnership in a meat market with John Callesen and later with J. F. Kelllng. He was interested in community affairs and held many public offices. He was baptized into the Lutheran faith while still a child in Germany, confirmed in Davenport in 1877 and in 1888 he helped organize the present St. Paul's Lutheran church and became one of Its charter members. Through all his life he was a faithful church member. For 55 years this worthy couple have been prominent in the life of this community. Two sons and six daughters were born to them. One son John and two daughters Olga and Christine died In infancy. The others are, Mrs. Irwin Peer, Algona; Mrs. Henry Foster, Nora Springs; Calla Tanck, Mrs. Robert McGowan and Mrs. Walter Long of Renwick.

Their Golden Wedding anniversary, five years ago was one of the happy events of their later years. The family will always remember with pleasure his last birthday which he enjoyed with all his children present.

He is survived by his wife, his children and one sister, Mrs. Emma Holck of Jeffers, Minn., six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was laid to rest in the Goldfield cemetery. The out of town relatives and friends that were here to attend were Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Holck, Mr. Leo Holck, Mr. Carl Holck, all of Jeffers, Minn., Bert Gilbertson, Lucon, Minn., :Mr. and Mrs. Warren Nelson, Thornton, Iowa, Mrs. John Vaughn, Bennett, Ia., Mrs. Martin Lindoerfer, Rock Island, Ill., Mrs. John Hoenes, Roland, Ia.; Mrs. Wm. Hansel, Auburn, Ia
