LIBERTY, Mo. -- Robert King Farrar, 77, Liberty, formerly of Braymer, Mo., died Saturday, June 19, 1999, at his home. Mr. Farrar had owned a Western Auto Store, Eagle Grove, Iowa, and had worked in the insurance business. He also served in the Navy during World War II. Born Nov. 30, 1921, in Braymer, Missouri, he attended schools in the Braymer area. He went on to attend William Jewell College, Liberty, where he was a member of Kappa Alpha Order. Following graduation, he attended Midshipman's School in Chicago. Mr. Farrar was a member of the Braymer C-4 School Board; Caldwell County (Mo.) School Board; Evergreen Cemetery Board; Braymer City Council; Braymer First Baptist Church, where he was a trustee; Masonic Lodge; and Tweedie-Murray American Legion, Post No. 117.
In 1947, he married Maxine Mackie of Kirksville, Mo. After their marriage, they lived in Eagle Grove until 1954, when they returned to Braymer. His wife, Maxine, survives. Mr. Farrar was preceded in death by his parents, Opal and David I. Additional survivors: a daughter, Susan von Gremp, Bentonville, Ark.; a son, William D., Liberty; and three grandchildren.
Memorial service: 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 28, 1999, First Baptist Church, Braymer. The body has been cremated. Family visitation: after the service, Braymer First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall. Arrangements: McGilley Antioch Chapel, Kansas City. Memorial contributions may be sent to Liberty Hospital Hospice, 2525 Glen Hendren Drive, Liberty, MO 64068.
