Memorial Services for 79 year old Ruby L. Kellison of Hampton, Iowa will be held Wednesday at 10:30 A.M. at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Hampton, Iowa. Inurnment will be in the Hampton Cemetery in Hampton, Iowa at a later date. Friends may call on Wednesday from 9:30 A.M. until service time at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Hampton, Iowa. Ruby L. Kellison passed away January 30, 2010 at the Franklin General Hospital Nursing Facility in Hampton, Iowa. Sietsema Vogel Funeral Home in Hampton, Iowa, is in charge of arrangements. Rev. John Byrne will be officiating.

Ruby L. Kellison, 79, of Hampton, Iowa, passed away January 30, 2010, at the Franklin General Hospital Nursing Facility in Hampton, Iowa. She was born July 4, 1930, in rural Alexander, Iowa, to George and Sadie (Jones) Dirksen, the last of six children. Ruby graduated from Geneva High School in 1948 and was united in marriage to Carlos L. Kellison on August 22, 1948. Ruby was a homemaker until Carlos passed away in 1978, then she expressed her love of children and operated a successful daycare in her Hampton home for 14 years. She was a member of the Geneva Cemetery Society, the Geneva UMF and the Geneva United Methodist Church, and attended services there until she was no longer able. Ruby frequently attended services at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Hampton, Iowa, with her son and family. Ruby was an avid reader, enjoyed creatively decorating her home, and liked to watch TV. She also enjoyed handiwork like candlewicking, latch hook and embroidery. Her greatest joy in life was keeping her home and taking care of her family.

She is survived by her sister, Lois Paullus, Hampton, son Mark and wife JoAnn (Humphreys) Kellison of Hampton, daughter Paula and husband Curtis Rother of Des Moines, three granddaughters Cindy and husband Jon Wilson of Hampton, Andrea Kellison and Jose Rodriguez of Hampton, Kendra Brown and husband Aren Honeick of Des Moines, and one grandson Michael Rother of Des Moines. Ruby was blessed with 14 great-grandchildren: Spencer, Jordan, Evan, Tristen, Dakota, Maleah, Jaide, Jacob, Kaitlyn, Cassandra, Isabel, Joseph, Carlos & Rielyn; also numerous nieces & nephews. Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three sisters and one brother.
