Harold J. Whistler, born June 12, 1934 was born in Iowa city and spent his childhood days in Belmond, Iowa. Entered the U.S. Air Force in 1952. Served during both the Korean War and Vietnam War. After serving for 20 years in the military, he operated his own business until 1990 when he retired.

He is survived by his wife Naomi Whistler of 48 years. He is the father of three girls, Mary Ann Bleam, Carol Vanlandingham, and Diane Ulibarri; Two sons, Harold Whistler Jr. and Robert Whistler; eight grandchildren, Jessica Vanlandingham, Joshua Vanlandingham, Jessie Bleam, Sasha Bleam, Justin Ulibarri, Kyle Ulibarri, Daniel Whistler, Cory Whistler and one great-grandchild, Cypress Blanchard. Two brothers, Donald Whistler and Roger Slater; Two sisters, Bonnie Adams and Shirley Bell. He will be greatly missed.

Visitation will be tonight from 5-7pm at South Mountain Village Assembly of God Church, 775 E. Baseline Rd., Phoenix with funeral service at 10:30am the following morning at the church. Interment will be with military honors at National Memorial Cemetery of AZ. Services by Gortarez Funeral Home.
