Donavon Leo Johanson, the son of Samuel and Naomi (Davis) Johanson, was born July 13, 1925 on a farm near Badger. He received his education at Eagle Grove and attended Eagle Grove High School. Following his education, Don began farming with his father. On October 5, 1946, he was united in marriage to Beverly Anderson at the Little Brown Church at Nashua, Iowa. Don enjoyed managing his farm near Badger which included a dairy operation. In the early 1950's Don and Beverly along with their two children made their home on the family farm following the death of his father. Mrs. Johanson passed away in 1996 and Don continued to make his home on the farm until moving to Springvale Senior Living in Humboldt in the fall of 2008.
Don was a life-long member of the Badger Lutheran Church. He was a past member of the Badger School Board and a long time active member of the Badger Lions Club. He enjoyed bowling in league and in his mid 60's took up the game of golf which he enjoyed the rest of his life. He was a dedicated sports fan for area teams; especially the Dodgers, Gaels, and ICCC. For many years, he and Beverly enjoyed their winters in Texas. His charming smile and delightful presence will be deeply missed by all. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Badger Lutheran Church.
