Herbert Haugland, 97, passed away Thursday, Sept. 18, 2003, at St. Joseph's Medical Center, Brainerd. He was born May 15, 1906, in Vincent, Iowa, to Abel and Villa (Olson) Haugland. He married Alice Vernon. She passed away March 9, 1988. He was a farmer in the Brainerd lakes area and was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Survivors include his daughter, Bonnie LeDoux, Brainerd; his son, Gerald "Bud" (Joyce) Haugland, Cloquet, Minn.; 14 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren. His parents, his wife, and two daughters, Betty Sawyer and Ila Mae Sorce, died earlier.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 22 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Brainerd, with Pastor Mark Skinner officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Brainerd. Friends may call Sunday, Sept. 21, 3-5 p.m. at Halvorson-Johnson Funeral Home, Brainerd, and an hour prior to the services at the church. Memorials are preferred. Arrangements are with Halvorson-Johnson Funeral Home, Brainerd.
