LITTLE FALLS, MN-- Berle F. Bowen, 90, Little Falls, died Tuesday, April 8, 2003, at St. Gabriel's Hospital in Little Falls. He was born Dec. 20, 1912, in Peterson, Iowa, to Fred and Lottie (Miller) Bowen. He graduated from Storm Lake High School on May 22, 1930. He graduated from Buena Vista University in Storm Lake, Iowa, in June 1935. He also attended American Institute of Business and the University of Minnesota. He married Mabel Sanquist on June 26, 1940. He worked for Freeborn High School, Bloomington High School, St. Cloud Tech High School, Faribault Vo-Tech, Little Falls High School and was an evening school director at Little Falls. He owned and operated Ben Franklin Stores in Belmond, Iowa, Humboldt, Iowa, and in Little Falls. He was St. Mary's Parish council president, Little Falls Education Association president, United Way general chairman, American Cancer Society County fund chairman and publicity chairman and Little Falls Chamber of Commerce vice president. He was a member of Knights of Columbus and Lions Club.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Ted Bowen, Little Falls; a daughter, Mary Stapel, Little Falls; and two grandchildren.

Services were today at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Little Falls with Father Nick Landsberger officiating. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery in Little Falls. Arrangements were with Brenny-Simonet Funeral Home, East Chapel, in Little Falls.
