STAPLES, MN - Orville A. Ingebritson, 89, of Staples, died Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2008, at Lakewood Health System Hospital in Staples. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 3, 2008, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Staples with father Scott Wittkop officiating. Interment will follow services at Evergreen Hill Cemetery in Staples. Friends are welcome to gather Sunday evening from 5-8 p.m. at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Staples and for one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.
Orville was born July 2, 1919, the son of Ed and Sadie (Miller) Ingebritson. He attended school in Popejoy, Iowa. He enlisted in the Army during WWII and was a POW held in Germany for 27 months. After his release and honorable discharge, he met and married Joyce E. Nurnberger on April 22, 1946. The couple made their home south of Staples where they farmed until their retirement in 1986. Orville was a member of Sacred Heart Church, Knights of Columbus, VFW and American Legion of Staples and American Ex POW.
Orville is survived by his wife, Joyce; his sons, Gary, of Oak Grove, of Minn., and Gene (Tes), of Staples; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three sisters, Faye Boser, of Little Falls, Olive Quasdorf, of Hampton, Iowa, and Alice Bridges, of Latimer, Iowa; and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers; and three sisters.
