ALDEN—Marlyn “Stub” Hickethier, 65, of Alden, died Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2005, while farming. Funeral services were held Friday at the United Methodist Church in Alden with burial in the Alden Cemetery. The Surls Funeral Home in Alden was in charge of arrangements.
Marlyn Hickethier was born on June 14, 1940, in Popejoy, the son of Harold and Eva (Bridges) Hickethier. He graduated from the Popejoy High School. On June 17, 1961, Marlyn was united in marriage to Fonda Jon Hurd at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Marlyn was retired from being a warehouse supervisor. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Alden and enjoyed fishing, carpentry, driving on short trips and enjoying the countryside, and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Fonda Hickethier of Alden; two daughters, Debra Hickethier of Alden and Sandra Hoversten and husband Jeffrey of Alden; two sons, Craig Hickethier and wife Darcy of Iowa Falls, and Kelly Hickethier of Iowa Falls; four grandchildren, Nicholas, Landon and Paige Hoversten and Cody Hickethier; stepfather, Ellsworth Helm of Popejoy; one stepsister, Cheryl Deike and husband Roger of Mason City; two half-sisters, Carol Vanderloop and husband Tom of Alden and Becky Kalous and husband Carroll of Alden; a mother-in-law, Wilma Hurd of Alden; two sisters-in-law, Francis Jondall and husband Gene of Alden and Margaret Erickson and husband Roger of Yuma, Ariz.; two brothers-in-law, Lloyd Hurd and wife Jan of Alden and Robert Hurd and wife Lou Ann of Carlisle; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law, Donald Hurd; and a brother-in-law, Edward Hurd.
