Eagle Grove – Vonieta V. Feaster

Vonieta Verladine Haase, the daughter of Otho and Matilda (Van Horn) Haase, was born on February 20, 1924, in Renwick, Iowa. She was raised and educated in the area of her birth then her family moved to Eagle Grove, where she graduated in the Class of 1941. Vonieta was united in marriage with Woodrow W. Xanders on August 19, 1942, in Bethany, MO. The couple made their home in Eagle Grove and spent a few winters in Florida and Texas. Woodrow preceded her in death on August 10, 1988. In 1994, she married Wendell Feaster and they lived in Eagle Grove until moving to Algona, residing in Manor Care facility and Good Samaritan Society. He preceded her in death on October 2, 2008. Vonieta then moved to Rotary Ann Nursing Home. Vonieta worked in the office for I.P.S. in Eagle Grove for 29 years.

Vonieta was a member of the United Methodist Church in Eagle Grove and served as a Sunday school teacher. She was also a member of BPW and ARC. Vonieta enjoyed camping and collecting Fostoria glassware. Vonieta passed away on Monday, December 28, 2009, at the age of 85, at Rotary Ann Nursing Home in Eagle Grove.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Calvin and Marvin; a niece and two nephews. Vonieta is survived by her sister, Myrtle Schaumburg of Eagle Grove; 10 nieces and nephews and several great nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 2, 2010, 11:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Eagle Grove with Pastor Mike Agnew officiating. Visitation is also Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until service time at the church. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove.
