Pilot Tribune, Storm Lake, IowaNorman K. "Bob" Nesheim, 91, died on Nov. 26, 2002, at the Good Samaritan Center in Newell following a lengthy illness. The funeral service was Friday, Nov. 29, at the St. Peter Lutheran Church in Newell with the Pastor Michael Harman officiating. Burial will be in the Newell Cemetery, Newell, Iowa.
Norman K. Nesheim was born July 7, 1911, on a farm south of Thor near Humboldt, the son of Norman M. and Bessie (Vinsand) Nesheim. He attended country schools. Norman was received into God's Kingdom of Grace through Holy Baptism and confirmed in his faith at the Ullensvang Lutheran Church in Thor, Iowa. On Feb. 16, 1938, Bob was married to Helen M. Porath at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Albert City. The couple farmed in the Newell area. Helen died on Aug. 8, 2000. Bob was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Newell. He was one of the founders of the Newell Coop Elevator and served on the Board of Directors for many years. He enjoyed raising corn and feeding cattle. Bob's hobbies included hunting, fishing, trapping, playing card and being with family and friends.
His family includes a daughter Pauline Spooner and her husband Jim of Rochester, Minn.; a son Walter Nesheim and his wife Rachel of Newell; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Bob was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; his brothers Grant and Phil, and his sisters Kathleen, Ingeborg, Grace, Lillian, and Faith.
Bob made it a point in his life to walk with the Lord and to help others in any way he could. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
