A Memorial Gathering for C. George Carver will be on Saturday January 28th. He died peacefully on December 19th [2005]. Born in Sioux City, Iowa in 1926 George grew up in Vincent, Iowa. After graduation from high school he served as a marine in Japan during WWII and was honorably discharged in 1946. He later studied art at the University of Minnesota. George moved his family to Southern California where he worked in civil service until retirement. He taught art on the weekends for many years and continued following retirement. He traveled the west coast sketching lighthouses and redwoods. He spent many hours developing archaeological and geographical research. He loved art, classical music, writing, and mythology; he also enjoyed playing chess. George valued alternative energy, and was known for his work to preserve the environment. In the early 1980's George relocated to Felton where he lived until 1998. He made his final home in Soquel where he was active in the California Grey Bears and as an active resident of the Rodeo Gulch Mobile Estates.

George is survived by his children and grandchildren: Karen C. Renfro and her husband Raymond of Riverside; Gwenn L. Carver of Riverside; Heidi C. Collier, her husband David and their daughter Blythe of Gilroy; Beth J. Carver of Bethel Island; Bruce W. Carver, his wife Laura and their children: Andrew, Melody, Jimmy of Devore, Sarah M. McNay, her daughter Aurora of Redlands; and Brian G. Carver of Riverside. His sister Harriet Ohlerking and brothers: Richard Carver; Donald L. Carver; Jerry B. Olsen; James B. Olsen and Stan H. Olsen. His parents and his sister A. Jean Carver-Stover preceded George in death. The Memorial Gathering for George will be held at the Rodeo Gulch Mobile Estates Clubhouse Saturday, January 28th at 2 p.m., 100 North Rodeo Gulch Road, Soquel.
