Quad City Times, Davenport, IowaROCK ISLAND, IL - Leona “Lee” Barnes, 75, of 3230 47th Ave., died Monday at Trinity Medical Center-East Campus, Moline. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Knox-Larson Funeral Home, Rock Island. Burial will be in Rock Island Memorial Park. Visitation is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday.
In earlier years, she was employed as a peanut sacker at the former W.J. Quinlan riverboat. Leona "Lee" Allen married Clarence Barnes in 1950 in Rock Island. He died in 1974. She enjoyed children. Memorials may be made to a favorite charity.
Survivors include a daughter, Linda Solbrig, Davenport; sons, Steve, Coal Valley, Ill., and James, LeClaire, Iowa; four grandchildren; sisters, Myrtle Hawkins, Portland, Ore., Esther Johnson, Fort Dodge, Iowa, and Florence Staelens, Port Byron, Ill.; and brothers, Ransom Allen, Clarion, Iowa; Raymond Allen, Webster City, Iowa; Manson, Mac and Merle Allen, all of Eagle Grove, Iowa.
