Hans Helgevold, 62, passed away suddenly at his home four miles northeast of Goldfield Monday night of last week. The deceased, a resident of Wright county since 1887, was enroute to Fort Dodge Monday evening when he became ill. He was taken to his home where he passed away about eleven o'clock.

Mr. Helgevold was a native of Stavanger, Norway, coming to this country at the age of 15 years, settling with his parents at Eagle Grove. He has been a resident of Wright county since that time. He is survivied by his widow and five children: Mrs. Edyth Berg, of Eagle Grove; Harry of Eagle Grove; Leonard of Goldfield; Harold and Maxine who are at home, besides many other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services were held at the home and at the Lutheran Church at Holmes on Thursday afternoon with Rev. T.J. Severtson of Eagle Grove in charge. The Fountain City Masonic Lodge had charge of the services at the cemetery. Burial was made in the family lot at the Holmes Cemetery.

Hans Helgevold Buried Thursday

Funeral services for Hans Helgevold were held at the Lutheran Church at Holmes on Thursday afternoon with the Rev. Fauske in charge of the service. Mr. Helgevold, who has been a resident of this community for year, died at his home east of town on last Monday night. He suffered a stroke earlier in the day from which he never completely rallied. Mr. Helgevold had hosts of friends in this community who extend their sympathy to the family. Following the service at the church the Goldfield Masonic Lodge had charge of the burial service.

Hans Helgevold was born near Stavanger, Norway, Feb. 2, 1872, of parents Faltin Hanson and Helza Helgevold. He was baptized and confirmed at Sandied near Stavanger, Vekedals Parish. He came to Eagle Grove, IA, in 1887, with his parents, two sisters and four brothers. His parents and two brothers have preceded him in death. In 1892 he was united in marriage to Emma Hovland which union was blessed with three boys, two daughters and one adopted daughter of whom one daughter preceded him in death.

Those to mourn his departure are his wife, Emma Helgevold, Henry, Leonard, Harold of Wright Co., IA; two daughters, Mrs. Edith Berg of Eagle Grove, IA, Maxine who is living at home and his two brothers, Helge of Thor, IA, and John and one sister, Mrs. Rachel Skye of San Francisco, Calif. He passed away suddenly Monday, Feb. 19, 1934, at the age of 62 years, less three days.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. H.S. Fauske on Thursday afternoon at the home of the deceased and at the Holmes Lutheran Church and was laid to rest at the cemetery two miles south of Holmes.
