Roland F. "Satch" Bohlen, 76, of 807 W 10th Ave N. Clear Lake, died Thursday, May 4, 2006, at Mercy Medical Center North Iowa, Mason City, Iowa. Graveside service was held Monday, May 8, at the Alexander Cemetery, Alexander, Iowa. with the Rev. Mark Young officiating. Roland was born Nov. 18, 1929 at Alexander to Frank and Ella (Beenan) Bohlen. Roland graduated from Alexander High School in 1947 and then attended business school. He worked as an insurance adjuster throughout Iowa and transferred to Clear Lake in 1976. After retiring he worked for the Globe Gazette for 15 years. Roland enjoyed woodworking, photography, traveling, playing cards, hunting and going down to Andy's for coffee. Roland is survived by his wife, Judy Bohlen; a daughter, Lori Starr and her husband, Tim; two grandchildren, Jeff and Julie Starr, all of Clear Lake; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Delores Lavender. Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, was in charge of arrangements.
