Janet E. Roderick - 78, of Fort Dodge, died Saturday, December 5, 2009 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home surrounded by her family following a sudden illness. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 9th in the Chapel of Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home and 10:30 a.m. at Corpus Christi Church with Msgr. Kevin McCoy officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be in Corpus Christi Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, where there will be a vigil at 7:00 p.m.

Surviving is her son, Jason and his wife Megan of Austin, TX; daughters, Janiece Condon and her husband Phil of Clare, Zandra Brenneman and her husband Ralph of Leavenworth, KS, Lori Kinkner and her husband Bill of Fort Dodge, Sue Tipton and her husband Dan of Austin, TX, Brenda O’Tool (Terry Semprini) of Fort Dodge; 9 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; sisters, Lucille Lauden of Thornton, IA, Carolee Mullenkanp of Ankeny. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Lyle (Dusty) and a son, Michael.

Janet E. Petersen was born March 31, 1931 in Hollandale, MN. She attended schools in Alexander, Iowa and graduated from Alexander High School. On October 15, 1949 she was united in marriage to Lyle (Dusty) Roderick in Mason City. Later they established their home in Fort Dodge. She owned and operated Dusty’s Coral along with her husband for many years. In 1986 she became employed at Tompkins Memorial Health Center, and was employed there at the time of her death. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
