Emma J. Dencklau, 75, of Fort Dodge, died Thursday, November 12, 2009, at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home. Services will be 1:00 p.m. on Monday, November 16, at the Gunderson Funeral Chapel with the Rev. John Sersland officiating. Interment will be in the Colfax Township Cemetery near Vincent. The visitation is Sunday from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services

Emma is survived by her husband Dennis (Smiley); her son Leo (Renee) Dencklau, Fort Dodge; her two grandchildren, Alisa (Andrew) Schlief, and their children, Dalton Dencklau and Rian Schlief; and Luke (Angela) Dencklau and their children, Braxtyn and Jaxson; a sister Beverly Lansing and a brother Ronald Brockman, both of Fort Dodge; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Gerald (Merry Jo) Dencklau, Francie Dencklau and Luella Hinderks. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Sara Dencklau, Jim Lansing, Marlene Brockman and Leo Dencklau.

Emma Jean Brockman, the daughter of Hubert and Lottie Emma (Reed) Brockman, was born April 28, 1934, at Lehigh. At a young age, Emma moved to Duncombe, Iowa where she attended school. On July 8, 1951, Emma was united in marriage to Dennis Dencklau at Duncombe. The couple moved to an acreage near Badger where they lived until moving to Fort Dodge in 1963. Emma was employed with Lazy Ike Corp. for ten years, Stiles Bowling and Golf for 27 years and then did janitorial work for 13 years. Emma was a member of the Lutheran Church and she enjoyed playing cards. Emma treasured the time she spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
