MRS. WICKS OF KANAWHA DIES

Rites for Early Resident to Be Held Wednesday at Church

Kanawha-April 11-Mrs. Thomas Wicks, 57, one of the early residents of this community, died following an illness of several weeks. She apparently recovered from an attack of pneumonia, but suffered a relapse which caused death.

Mrs. Wicks was born Julia Asbe, November 5, 1875 in Story County and came to this community at the age of 7. Except for 13 years spent at Eagle Grove, she had been a resident of this community since coming here. Her father was one of the first settlers in Norway township, Wright county.

Surviving are six children, Mrs. N.D. Anderson, Mrs. Martin Hill, Homer of Clarion, Mrs. Roy Scott of Fort Dodge and Gerhard of Northfield, Minn.; 11 brothers and sisters, Mrs. Lars Olson, Mrs. T.A. Wicks, Mrs. James Mehl, Mrs. Joe Larson, Mrs. Elmer Thorson, Mrs. O.L. Lein and Anfin Asbe all of Kanawha; Joe Asbe of Faribault, Minn., Tom of Forest City, Mrs. Ben Hill of Jackson, Minn., and Bert Asbe of Clarion. Her father, Hans Asbe, lives in Kanawha.

Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon at St. John's Lutheran Church, six and a half miles southeast of Kanawha, with burial in the Norway township cemetery. The Rev. N.A. Gangsel will be in charge.
