Set Rites for Kanawha Man

Hans Asbe Survived by 10 Children & 70 Grandchildren

KANAWHA- Funeral services for Hans Asbe, 89, will be held Monday at 12:30 p.m. at the home of Mr. and Mrs. O.L. Lein and at St. John's Lutheran church at 1 p.m. with the Rev. M.N. Peterson of Kanawha and the Rev. Gerhard Wicks of Ruthven in charge.

Mr. Asbe was born in Norway Sept. 10, 1850. He was one of Wright county's pioneers. He died Friday morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. O.L. Lein, from a two week's illness of heart disease.

Surviving are three sons, Tom Asbe of Forest City, Bert Asbe of Belmond and Anfin Asbe of Kanawha; seven daughters, Mrs. Ida Hill of Jackson, Minn.; Mrs. Joe Larson, Mrs. Tom Wicks, Mrs. Elmer Thorson, Mrs. James Mehl, Mrs. Oscar Lein and Mrs. Lars Olson of Kanawha; also 70 grandchildren, 100 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

FUNERAL HELD FOR HANS ASBE

89 Year Old Retired Farmer From Kanawha Was Born in Norway

KANAWHA-Funeral services for Hans Asbe, 89, were held Monday afternoon at the St. John's church with the Rev. Gerhard Wicks of Ruthven, who is a grandson of Mr. Asbe, and the Rev. M.N. Peterson of Kanawha in charge. Mr. Asbe had been ill at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Oscar Lein for the past two weeks suffering from heart disease.

He was born Sept. 10, 1850 in Gaarden Asbe, Fjeldberg Pretejeld, Norway. In 1915 he retired from farming.

Mr. Asbe was a charter member of St. John's Lutheran Church, six and one half miles southwest of Kanawha. Mr. Asbe was the last charter member living.

Surviving are ten children, three sons, Tom of Forest City, Bert of Belmond, Anfin of Kanawha, seven daughters, Mrs. Ida Hill of Jackson, Minn., Mrs. Joe Larson, Mrs. Lars Olson, Mrs. Elmer Thorson, Mrs. James Mehl, Mrs. Oscar Lein and Mrs. T.A. Wicks; 70 grandchildren; 100 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Special music at the service was furnished by Mrs. Aaron Holm, who sang a solo; a duet by Sten Stenson and his daughter, and a duet by the Rev. Mr. Peterson and the Rev. Mr. Wicks.

Pallbearers were Herbert Wicks, Paul Thorson, James Mehl, Harold Wicks, Merle Asbe and LeRoy Wicks.
