HAMPTON, IA - Ruby Margaret Branson, 94, of Hampton, passed away Monday (April 16, 2007) at the Franklin General Hospital Nursing Facility in Hampton. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Hampton United Methodist Church in Hampton with burial in the Hampton Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Sietsema-Vogel Funeral Home in Hampton. Memorials may be directed to the FGH Foundation-NH.

Ruby was born Oct. 23, 1912, in Vincent, Iowa, to Lewis Marshall and Mary Adelaide (Steadman) Erickson. She attended schools in Hampton and graduated from Hampton High School with the Class of 1929. Ruby was united in marriage to Donald Branson on Feb. 21, 1931, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. The couple made their home in the Hampton area. Ruby worked in the office of Farmer's Mutual Insurance Agency for many years serving as a bookkeeper, accountant and insurance agent. Following her retirement, she volunteered with the Senior Center, hospital and Head Start. She was a member of the Hampton United Methodist Church, Methodist Women and church circles. She was also a 50-year member of the Rebekah Lodge and served as a 4-H leader. Ruby enjoyed knitting, crocheting and travel. She especially enjoyed spending time watching her grandchildren in their activities.

Ruby is survived by son, Howard and wife, Roberta Branson, of Brooklyn Center, Minn.; daughter, Helen Brandt, of Coulter; six grandchildren; one sister, Florence Stotser, of Ackley; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1967; two brothers, Phillip and Ralph; and son-in-law, Willard Brandt.
