BOGATA, Texas — Jake Reigert, 80, of Paris TX and formerly of Bogata, died on Monday, Jan. 29, 2007, in Paris Regional Medical Center. Funeral services have been scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 2, in the Grace Lutheran Church with the Rev. Bruce Miller officiating. Burial follows in Bogata Cemetery with full military honors. The family receives friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home in Bogata. He will also lie in state for an hour prior to services at the church on Friday.
He was born Feb. 8, 1926, in Kanawha, Iowa, the son of Jake and Grace Fanny Fuls Reigert. He was retired from the U.S. Army, The US Civil Service, and also was retired from Rivercrest Independent School District, and was a Texas Certified Law Enforcement Peace Officer. On Jan. 12, 1952, he married the former Evelyn Spitznas in Red Bank, N.J. He was preceded in death by his son, Robert Michael Reigert on Oct., 10, 1979. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Reigert of Paris; son, Kenneth Reigert and wife, Lucretia, of Hewitt; daughter, Carolynn Rhodes and husband, Jerry, of Paris; four grandchildren, Kenny Jake Reigert, David Reigert, Brandee Rhodes and James Rhodes; and one great-grandson, Hunter Jake Reigert; two sisters, Elsie Kula and Darlene Bergstrom, both of Mount Prospect, Ill. Pallbearers will be Kenneth Reigert, Kenny Reigert, David Reigert, Terry Rhodes, Bill Deberry, and Hal Johnson.
