Richard Eugene Hiltabidle, the son of Charles and Anna Mae (Shell) Hiltabidle, was born November 28, 1930, in Clio, Iowa. He was raised and educated in Allerton, Iowa. On September 15, 1951, Richard was united in marriage with Wanema Mace. He then served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He worked many years for the Chicago Northwestern Railroad as a switchman and the couple made their home in Eagle Grove. Richard was a member of the United Methodist Church. He was a great man with several friends and touched the lives of many. Richard enjoyed fishing and loved to play cards.

Richard passed away on Monday, August 10, 2009, at Rotary Ann Nursing Home in Eagle Grove, at the age of 78 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Wanema on April 15, 2004; daughter Kila Kae on March 17, 1986 and son Stephen on December 25, 2007.

Survivors include two sons: Richard Hiltabidle and Donna Small of Queen City, MO and Thomas Hiltabidle and wife Mary of Eagle Grove; grandchildren: Matthew, Aaron and Melinda Hiltabidle, Kaitlin and Kimberly Hiltabidle, Gabriel, Joshua and Aaron Small and Carna Jackson and husband Reed; two great-grandchildren, Teagan and Ronan Jackson; brothers, Larry Hiltabidle and wife Lornell of Waverly, MO and Terry Hiltabidle and wife Sharon of Traer and sister, Diana Thomas and husband Don of Germantown, TN.

Visitation will be held Thursday, August 13, 2009, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove, with a Prayer service at 7:00 p.m. with Pastor Mike Agnew. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
