July 16, 1912Sad Death at Mercy Hospital
The sad death of Mrs. F. J. [Frank James] Strain occurred Sunday evening at eight o'clock at Mercy hospital where she had recently undergone an operation. She had been ill but one week and her death, coming so suddenly, is a shock to the many relatives and friends she had in this city. She was taken to her home on south Wilson Avenue Saturday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Strain came here a couple of years ago from their former home in Wisconsin, removing to Boone last fall and returning to this city but a short time ago. She leaves a family of four children, three boys and a girl, besides her husband, three brothers and a sister. G. D. and Albert Thompson of this city and Miss Myrtle and C.C. Thompson of Woolstock. Mrs. Strain was 41 years of age. The funeral services were held this afternoon at 1:30 from the United Brethren church conducted by Rev. J.W. Peterson.
