Frank J. Strain, 85, died at the Hubbard Nursing home Sunday, having been a patient at the home the past year. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Foster funeral home with the Rev. Roy Nelson officiating. Burial will be in Graceland cemetery.

Frank James Strain, son of David and Elizabeth [nee Gray] Strain, was born Mary 13, 1868, in Washington county, Iowa. He spent his earlier years in that community, coming to Webster City in 1889. He engaged in farming and tiling in this area [Woolstock, Wright County]. He was united in marriage to Miss Eva Thompson Oct. 7, 1891 [in Woolstock], and to this union four children were born. He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. John (Ruby) McDonald, and three sons, Randall, Ralph and David Strain; one brother, 25 grandchildren and 50 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Mr. Strain was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, who died in 1912, by three brothers and two sisters.
