Frieda Marie Schiff Dencklau, of Northglenn, Colorado and formerly of Vincent, Iowa died July 9, 2007, at the age of 94 in Northglenn. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 18th in the chapel of Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home with Rev. J. K. Raether officiating. Burial will be in Colfax Township Cemetery. Visitation will be after 4:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

She is survived by her sons Ronald (Behalia, MS), Paul (Northglenn, CO), David (Amarillo, TX), 19 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, a step brother Melvin Elsen of Evanston, WY, and many great-great-grandchildren. Frieda was preceded in death by her husband Butch, daughter Velma, grandson Randolph, brother Walter, sister Sally, stepbrother Herman, and stepsister Helen.

Frieda was born October 13, 1912, on the estate of Grocholin, near Exin, Germany, to Emil Schiff and Martha (Zimmerman) Schiff Elsen. She immigrated to the United States in 1921, settling with her family in Pomeroy, Iowa. In 1927, she was confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Fort Dodge, Iowa. She attended St. Paul's Lutheran School and Tobin Business College, both in Fort Dodge. On February 10, 1931, Frieda married Erwin (Butch) Dencklau. They resided on a farm near Vincent, Iowa, where Frieda was a farmer's wife and worked at Pan O'Gold Bakery for many years. She became a United States citizen in 1946. Frieda moved to Northglenn in 1968, where she worked and retired from Adams County School District 12. She was a member of Gethsemane Lutheran Church. Frieda enjoyed her flowers, vegetable gardening, knitting, crocheting, and listening to polka music. Memorials are at the discretion of the family.
