Robert Arlen Erickson, 57, of Loganville, Ga., formerly of Cedar Rapids, died of cancer Sunday in Humana Gwinner Hospital, Snellville, Ga. Services: 11 a.m. Saturday, Linn's Funeral Home, Iowa Falls, where friends may call from noon to 8 p.m. Friday and the family will greet friends from 6 to 8. Burial: Union Cemetery, Iowa Falls. Survivors include his wife, Catherine; a daughter, Virginia Venema of Loganville; and two sons, Brent of Fresno, Calif., and Craig of Cedar Rapids. Also surviving are a son-in-law, Richard Venema; and two daughters-in-law, Linda and Joni. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Ivan William, and a sister, Merle "Jean" Grooms.

Born Oct. 25, 1935, in Iowa Falls, son of Albert W. and Mary Ellen Whitten Erickson, he married Catherine June Campbell on Feb. 19, 1938, in Clarion. He graduated from Iowa Falls High School in 1953, Ellsworth Community College, Iowa Falls, and Kirkwood Community College, Cedar Rapids. He resided in Cedar Rapids from 1982 to 1991, when he retired from Iowa Electric Light and Power. He was a quality control and materials handler, and previously had been a brakeman for the Illinois Central Railroad. He was a member of Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Immanuel Memorial United Church of Christ in Alden and a former member of Iowa Falls Booster Club. The Rev. Dick W. Fylling of First Congregational United Church of Christ, Iowa Falls, will officiate. Memorials may be made to the family.
