Billie R. Smith, 67, of 3011 Woodland Dr. SW, died in her home on Sunday, July 7, 1996. Memorial services: 11 a.m. Tuesday, Immanuel Baptist Church, 1900 F Ave. NW, by Pastor Ed Gregory and Pastor Ed Roustio. Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include her husband, Leo; five children, Ted Smith and wife Linda, Nancy D. Hoyle, Bonnie Cook and husband Bill, Dixie L. Stumpff and Andy T. Smith and wife Heidi, all of Cedar Rapids; 11 grandchildren, Teddy, Tracy, Tiffany, Matthew, Gretchen, Aaron, Jennifer, Jillian, Amber, Nicholas and Christopher; eight great-grandchildren, Justin, Jason, Kaylie Lexus, MacKenzie, Zachary, Katelyn, J.T. and Devery; and two sisters, June Beckett of Arkansas and Roena Neal of Wilton. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Lee Ramsey.

Born Dec. 24, 1928, in Clarion, to Leonard L. and Olive E. Moss Ramsey, she married Leo J. Smith on Sept. 14, 1946, in Clarion. They would have celebrated their golden wedding anniversary this fall. A self-employed seamstress for 35 years, Billie made draperies and enjoyed her sewing very much. She was a longtime member of the Immanuel Baptist Church. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. A memorial fund has been established.
