Jonts A. Leeper,76, of 927 Fifth St. SE, died Tuesday, May 20, 1997, in the Clarinda Regional Health Center after a long illness. Services: 11 a.m. Friday, Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home, where the family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. today. The Rev. William Harnish will officiate. Burial: Linwood Cemetery. Survivors include a daughter, Sheryl Trevizo of West Liberty; and two sons, Ronald and Jonts Jr., both of Cedar Rapids. Also surviving are four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Agnes; four brothers, Ray, Roy, Cheery and Lee Marlin; and a sister, Catherine Stewart.

Born April 4, 1921, in Clarion, to Lee Roy and Mary Harris Leeper, he married Agnes Pernicka on Jan. 20, 1940, in Vinton. She died April 24, 1972. Jonts had worked for Builders Material before retiring in 1978. He was a member of Teamster Union Local 238 of Cedar Rapids for 30 years. A memorial fund has been established.
