Evelyn "E.J." J. Levendusky, 79, of Oelwein, formerly of Fairbank, died Monday morning, July 15, 2002, in Allen Memorial Hospital, Waterloo, after a short illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Woods Funeral Home, Fairbank, where friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. Burial: Fairbank Cemetery. Survivors include a son, Robert of Fayette; two daughters, Linda Reiter of Steamboat Rock and Sue Levendusky of Independence; and a sister, Ruth Pieper of Hawkeye. Also surviving are a son-in-law, Harris Reiter; and three granddaughters, Johanna Crosman of Lenox and Kate and Jessica Reiter of Steamboat Rock. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dale, on March 27, 2000; and her parents.

Born Feb. 16, 1923, in Clarion, Iowa, a daughter of Robert Fickle and Bernice Mills, she married Dale Levendusky on June 18, 1949, in Fairbank. Evelyn was a resident of Fairbank for many years. She taught for more than 30 years and was a teacher at Fairbank High School and Wapsie Valley High School before retiring in 1981. Memorials may be directed to the family.
