Earleen Dale Bolie, 78, of Albuquerque, N.M., formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, Jan. 9, 2000, in Lovelace Hospital, Albuquerque, following a short illness. Services: 10 a.m Thursday, French Mortuary, Albuquerque. Burial: 1 p.m. Thursday, Santa Fe National Cemetery. Survivors include her husband, Victor.

Earleen Dale Bolie was born in Fort Dodge, the daughter of Birdie Marie Swanson and Earl Clifton Dale. Her father was a World War II veteran. Following her childhood years in Montana, the family moved back to Iowa, where she graduated as valedictorian from Kanawha High School. She then earned her teacher certification and B.A. degree from the University of Northern Iowa in 1944 and served 12 years as a high school teacher at successively advancing locations in Iowa and Minnesota, including McKinley High School in Cedar Rapids. Following graduate studies at Stanford and Iowa State, she received her M.S. degree with state certification in educational guidance and, thereafter, served five years as a counselor in Anaheim, Calif., and Stillwater, Okla. Her husband, Victor, is a former Air Force pilot and engineering professor. Earleen resided in Cedar Rapids from 1952 to 1958, and had been a resident of Albuquerque, N.M., for the last 29 years. Throughout her career of working with young people in a variety of assignments, Earleen was well known for her enthusiasm and dedication. She will be missed for her cheerful outlook for the coming generations.
