Marlyn G. Mehl, 58, of 310 Fifth Ave. SE, died Thursday, March 26, 1998, of injuries received in a fall at Geneva Tower. Graveside services: 2 p.m. Monday, Czech National Cemetery, by the Rev. Raymond Mehl. Friends may call from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Monday at Papich-Kuba Funeral Home East.

Survivors include his wife, Geneva E. Mehl of Cedar Falls Health Care Center, Cedar Falls; two daughters by his previous marriage to Diana Dutcher, Cynthia K. Mehl and Julie A. Church and husband Chris, all of Cedar Rapids; three sisters, Arlene Greenwood, Eunice Banning and Lois Patterson, all of Belmond; two brothers, the Rev. Raymond Mehl and wife La Mae of Apple Valley, Minn., and Dr. Eugene Mehl and wife De Etta of Whitehouse, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews. Marlyn was preceded in death by his parents, Milford and Gladys Soma Mehl and an infant brother.

Marlyn was born May 12, 1939, in Belmond. He had been employed as a meat cutter at Super Valu grocery stores in Webster City and Mount Vernon until his early retirement in 1965 due to ill health. Marlyn also had been a salesman for the Mason Shoe Company and the Fuller home products company. He was a member of the Lutheran church. Marlyn was a former member of the Civil Air Patrol in Belmond and the CB Radio Club in Mount Vernon. He had lived in Cedar Rapids since 1994, moving here from Cherokee.
