Faye Carstens, 87, of 426 Stoney Creek Rd. NW, formerly of Anamosa, died Sunday, July 5, 1998, in her home after a brief illness. Services: 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Goettsch Funeral Home, Anamosa, where friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today. Burial: Riverside Cemetery.

Faye Atwood was born Nov. 13, 1910, in Anamosa, Iowa, the daughter of Bert and Bird Thompson Atwood. She received her education in the Anamosa schools, where she graduated in 1929. Faye Atwood and Cecil "Carp" Carstens were married Sept. 23, 1929. She was employed at Anamosa Produce for a brief time. In 1936, they moved to Belmond, Iowa, where Cecil was manager for Iowa Electric. They returned to Anamosa in 1979, and then in 1989, moved to Cedar Rapids. He died Jan. 4, 1992. Faye was a member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church, Cedar Rapids, and Eastern Star.

Faye is survived by a daughter, Cathy Troll of Cedar Rapids; two grandchildren, Mark and Leann Troll; and a sister, Nellie Houstman of Anamosa. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Larry; a daughter, Dixie Friel; a brother; and three sisters. Memorials may be made to St. Luke's Hospice.
