5/29/1996MESERVEY, IA -- Harland L. Blewett, 83, of Ames, formerly of Meservey, died Monday (May 27, 1996) at Mary Greeley Hospital, Ames. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Tenold Funeral Home, Belmond, with the Rev. Laurence Garrett from the United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be in the Meservey Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Tenold Funeral Home, Belmond.
He was born on May 20, 1913, in Meservey, the son of Harold and Edna (Hartfelder) Blewett. Harland received his education and graduated from Meservey High School. He married Della Mae Rabey on May 30, 1938, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. They lived and farmed in the Franklin County area for 30 years. In 1965, they purchased and operated the Lincoln Lodge Motel in Ames, retiring in 1976. Harland was a 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge. Harland is survived by his daughters, Vivian Brandmeyer of Boone, Brenda Westvold of Des Moines, and Valree Dickson of Ames; his sister, Bernice Johnson of Encino, Calif.; and grandchildren, Mike Brandmeyer of Plymouth, Minn.; Brent Brandmeyer of Overland Park, Kan.; Nicholas and Jason Westvold of Des Moines, and Mackenzie and Nolan Dickson of Ames. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and a brother.
