Ruth Wilson Parks, 84, of Greenville, died Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2006, at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, after an extended illness. Born on Aug. 29, 1921, in Belmond, Iowa, she was the daughter of the late William Logan and Myrtle Cline Wilson. She had resided in Sarasota, Fla., for 30 years prior to moving to Greenville in 2005, and was a member of the United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Larry Michael Parks; and a son-in-law, Douglas Staples.

Surviving are her husband of 65 years, Charles Kelly Parks of Greenville; two sons and daughters-in-law, Leslie D. and Sue Parks of Greenville, and Douglas F. and Michael Parks of Brookville, Ohio; a daughter, Donna Parks Staples of Wilmington, N.C.; six grandchildren, Sherry Parks Letner of Brookville, Ohio, Amy Parks of Charleston, S.C., Sarah Parks Dancik of Clemson, S.C., Todd Jones of Charlotte, N.C., Heather Parks of Tampa, Fla., and Nicole Parks of Orlando, Fla.; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Helen Wilson Riley of Riverside, Ohio; and a brother, Archie Wilson of Alta Loma, Calif.

A family graveside service will be held today, Jan. 19, 2006, at 2:30 p.m. at the Woodlawn Memorial Park, conducted by Chaplain Calvin Vick of St. Francis Hospice. The family will receive friends this afternoon from 3 to 4:30 p.m. at the Woodlawn Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Francis Hospice, 414 Pettigru St., Greenville, SC 29601. Woodlawn Funeral Home, Greenville, S.C., is in charge of arrangements.
