OSCEOLA - Alma Carolyne Hennigar, 88, of Osceola, Iowa, and a native of Diagonal, Iowa, passed away Monday (June 8, 2009) at the Southern Hills Specialty Care Center, Osceola. Born Dec. 27, 1921, one of twin daughters to Tom and Maude (Williams) Taylor at Diagonal, Iowa, Alma grew up and went to school in Diagonal. She graduated from Diagonal in 1939 and took normal teachers training at Clearfield High School and graduated in 1940. She worked in Des Moines, during World War II, then went to Denver, Colo., where she worked for Montgomery Ward until she was married. She married Owen (Dex) Keith Hennigar on April 10, 1946, at Lakewood, Colo. They lived most of their married life in Colorado except time in Texas and North Iowa. They lived at Nunn, Colo., where she worked in several cafes. She was a member of Merry Matrons and birthday clubs, serving as president for several years. She worked with her husband in trucking, hauling hay, rocks and farm machinery. They moved to Alden, Iowa, in 1994 and she continued trucking with Owen until retirement. Alma was preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Maude Taylor; her husband, Owen (Dex) Hennigar; a twin sister, Alice Paulyne Schrodt, and her husband, Elbert Schrodt; and her nephews, Louie, Dean and Charlie. She is survived by her husband's family, who were dear to her, and her sister's children, who cared deeply for her. She shared a happy life with her husband of 60 years. A memorial service and time of fellowship and gathering will be held from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. Saturday, June 13, 2009, at the Eagles in Osceola. Arrangements are with Andrews Funeral Homes, Belmond, Iowa.
