Howard George Muhlenbruch

March 27, 1925 – January 27, 2009

Funeral service will be 10:30 A.M. Friday at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Hampton with burial in the Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 4-7 PM at the Sietsema-Vogel Funeral Home in Hampton. Rev. Karl Bollhagen and Vicar Jesse Burns will officiate the service.

Howard George Muhlenbruch, 83, of Hampton, Iowa, passed away January 27, 2009, at Franklin General Hospital Nursing Facility in Hampton. He was born March 27, 1925, in Hampton to George and Alvina (Pralle)Muhlenbruch. Howard attended St. Paul's Lutheran School and Latimer High School. He served his country as a military policeman in the United States Army from 1946 to 1949 in Germany. Howard married Melba Ruigh on May 29, 1954, in Meservey, Iowa. He was a lifelong farmer. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Lutheran Laymen's League, American Legion Post 183, and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2557. He enjoyed Faith and Fellowship Club and served as a guard at the Franklin County Fair for many years.

Howard is survived by his wife Melba of Hampton; four daughters: Kathy (Steve) Hotchkiss of Moline, Illinois, Cheryl (Al) Robson of Scranton, Donna (Paul) Lunstrum of Cedar Rapids, and Jane (Dan) Yee of Loveland, Colorado; brother Fred Muhlenbruch of Latimer; sisters Frances Meyer of Hampton and JoAnne Mills of Iowa Falls; ten grandchildren: Robyn (Marcus) Hill-Kofoot, Kelly and Kyle Hill; Kristine, Tracy, and Michelle Robson; Benjamin and Hannah Lunstrum; Brian and Andrew Yee; and one great-grandson, Peyton Kofoot; a cousin, Harlan Muhlenbruck, who farms the family farm, and many other cousins, nieces, and nephews. Howard was preceded in death by his parents, sister Alice Stock, and three brothers-in-law, Loren Stock, Erwin Mills, and Alvin Meyer, Jr.
