Bernice Thelma Kottler, 84, died Tuesday, May 9, 1995, at the Mary Greeley Hospital in Ames, Iowa. Funeral services were held May 13, at Calvary Baptist Church, Belmond, Iowa, with the Rev. David Pestel officiating. Interment was at the Belmond Cemetery, Belmond.

Bernice was born Jan. 21, 1911, in Belmond, the daughter of Gus and Lydia Cramer Ziska. She attended Belmond schools. On February 20, 1949 she was united in marriage to Lester Kottler in Belmond. The couple made their home in Belmond. In 1962 they moved to Clear Lake. Lester preceded her in death in 1980. Bernice moved back to Belmond where she lived in the McBurney Apartments. She entered Belmond Care Center where she lived until moving into the Riverside Manor in Ames. She liked to sew and quilt, and was most remembered for her sewing.

She was survived by a daughter, Dawn Kottler, Ames; a sister, Dorothy Johnstone, Hob Sound, Fla.; and one sister-in-law, Gladys Kottler of Clarion, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter Holly Ann; a brother, Lyle; and a sister, Mildred.

Organist Diane Peterson accompanied soloist Cathyman?, Wayne Spilman, Dean Snyder, Leo Lallier, Robert Wolfram, Gerald Buck. Pallbearers were Karl Laudner, Daniel Spilman, Ben Hall, Merle Marshall, Bob Glidden, Ron Springer, Dave Whitecotton.
