Alan C. Oelmann, age 54, of Ackley, died on Thursday, August 9, 2007, at Mercy Medical Center in Mason City. Funeral services will be held Monday at 1:30 P.M. at the First Presbyterian Church in Aplington with burial in the Oakwood Cemetery, Ackley. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2-6 P.M. at the Sietsema Funeral Home in Ackley. Alan was born on August 25, 1952 in Waterloo, Iowa, to Charles and Ruth (Adolfs) Oelmann. He graduated from Aplington High School in 1970. He graduated in 1972 from Hawkeye Tech in Ag Power Mechanics. Alan was united in marriage to Sharon Neessen on April 12, 1976 in Austinville. He worked many years for DeVries Trucking of Austinville and was presently working at Eaton Corp in Belmond. In 1995 he was one of the founders of the West Franklin EMS and was the first President. He later became an EMT-B and an EMT-I. In 1999 he became a Paramedic Specialist and a member of the Ackley Ambulance.

Alan is survived by his wife, Sharon; one daughter, Jennifer Oelmann of Des Moines; two sons, Heath Oelmann and his wife, Heather of Lakehurst, NJ and Riley Oelmann at home; one son-in-law, Matthew Hansen of Independence; one grandson, Jayden Hansen and two granddaughters, Hallie and Hannah Oelmann; three brothers, Keith Oelmann and his wife, Deb of Aplington, Warren Oelmann and his wife, Cindy of Austinville, and Brian Oelmann of Austinville; two sisters, Janet Robinson of Ackley, Donna Muhs and her husband, Joe of Adel; and one sister-in-law, Dee Monson and her husband, Wayne of Waverly, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Ruth; one brother, Ed; his brother-in-law, Richard Robinson; his nephew, Justin Robinson, and his mother and father-in law Richard and Dorothy.
