W. Dean Azeltine, age 79, of Iowa Falls, died on Friday, January 16, 2009 at the Mercy Medical Center in Mason City. Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Wednesday at the First United Methodist Church in Iowa Falls with burial in the Union Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-7 P.M. Tuesday at the Surls Funeral Home in Iowa Falls. Dean Azeltine was born on January 9, 1930 in Belmond, Iowa, the son of Wesley and Garnet (Bamford) Azeltine. He graduated from the Iowa Falls High School and attended Ellsworth Community College. On April 9, 1950 Dean was united in marriage to Mary Heim in Iowa Falls. He was an Accountant and Controller with Purina in Iowa Falls, St. Louis, and Pittsburgh and he also worked for Cuckler Bldg. Systems, Lear Siegler, and Commander Bldgs all in Monticello. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and had been in various bands starting at the age of 17, most recently, the Ackley German Band and also enjoyed golfing. Dean is survived by his wife, Mary of Iowa Falls; three sons, Jeffrey of Marion, Gregory of Los Angeles, CA and Bradley of Ames; 7 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Michael and Anthony; and his stepmother, Anna Azeltine.
