Viola Wells, 89, of Mason City, Iowa entered into her eternal home in heaven on August 4, 2005, at the Muse Norris Hospice of North Iowa; surrounded by her family. Funeral services will be held on Monday August 8, 2005, at Hanford Community Church, 12411 Spruce Ave. in Mason City, at 10:30am. Pastor Mark Culham and Reverend Raymond Corlew will be conducting the service. Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 7, 2005, from 3:00 pm to 5:30 pm at Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel. There will also be a Visitation one-hour prior to the service on Monday at Hanford Community Church. The Family would suggest that the Memorials go to the Hanford Community Church Missions or Hospice of North Iowa.

Viola was born on September 9, 1915 in Tokio, North Dakota. She is the daughter of Torger (Tom) and Sarah Michelina (Askildson) Haukness. The Family later moved to Mason City. She was confirmed in 1929 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. She graduated from Mason City High School in 1933. In August of 1963 she graduated in the first Practical Nursing class of Mason City Junior College. Viola loved the nursing profession, working with local doctors at the Park Clinic, nursing care centers and home health. Viola was married to James Raymond (Jim) Wells in Clarion, Iowa on July 1, 1937. Viola along with her husband, Jim, owned and operated Seclusion Point Resort, Dent, MN, from 1968 to 1976. She attended Hanford Community Church. She was a foster grandparent, working with students at Madison Elementary School, a volunteer at the Muse Norris Hospice, and lead Bible Studies and taught Sunday School. She enjoyed her family, many friends, sewing, ceramics, reading, handcrafts, flowers, and traveling to Norway three times and stated the best trip was with her daughters and granddaughters in 1995.

She was dearly loved and will be missed by her children: Constance (Connie) Wheeler (Norman) of Dent, MN, James (Jim) Wells (Carol) of Osage, IA, and Patricia (Pat) Corlew (Ray) of Davenport, IA. Grandchildren; Sharon Clausen (Mark), David Wheeler (Barb), Christine Doe (Bob), Jeff Wells (Lisa), Jay Wells, Jim Wells (Marlys), John Wells, Dawn Corlew, and Kevin Corlew (Amy); Great-Grandchildren: Adam, Kaylinn, Christopher, Erica, Alyssa, Scott, Ryan, Chloe, Sam, Kenna, Gabriel, and a baby boy to be born in October; Great Great Grandchildren: Alec and Hannah; a brother Louis Haukness (Eva) of Estherville, IA, several nephews, a niece, several cousins and a special cousin Helen Leigh. Viola is preceded in death by her husband, Jim, March 1975, her parents, brother Clarence Haukness, sisters Alice Lutcavish and Lillian England, and infant brother and sister.
