CEDAR FALLS - Mervyn Keith Frye, 77, of Cedar Falls, died Sunday, Nov. 9, at Allen Hospital, Waterloo, of cancer. He was born April 4, 1931, in Clarion, son of Harry W. and Della P. Hilpipre Frye. He married Marilyn Irene Peyton on April 30, 1949, in Jacksonville, N.C., and they later divorced. He married Maria Kaffoglou on July 27, 1974, in Waterloo. Mr. Frye graduated from Dows High School, Dows, and served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean conflict. He worked at Rath Packing Co., Waterloo, for over 30 years, and was owner/operator of the North Cedar Dairy Sweet for several years.

Survived by: his wife; two daughters, Raynette J. (Jim) Wright of Des Moines and Patti Jo (Mike) Mooers of Phoenix; three sons, Scott K. (Rosie) and David W. (Deb), both of Cedar Falls, and Mark E. (Becky) of O’Fallon, Mo.; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Harvey K. (Dorothy) of Waterloo; and a sister, Marie M. Bradfield of Denver, Iowa. Preceded in death by: his parents; and his Aunt Florence, who helped raise him.

Services: 1 p.m. Thursday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, with burial in Hillside Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49. Public visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorials: may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice.
