NEW HAMPTON, IA - Donald Harry Lester, 73, of New Hampton, died Sunday, Dec. 21, at home. He was born Feb. 19, 1935, in Goldfield, son of Raymond and Vera Anderson Lester. On Oct. 15, 1955, he married Kay Erwin at the Methodist Church, Renwick. He was a 1952 graduate of Goldfield High School and farmed in New Hampton. While farming he was a manager for Crow’s Seed Corn Co. and sold Nature’s Fertilizer. He later was a salesman for Murphy & Eisele International Harvester, and later bought the John Kelly Insurance Agency, which he ran for 25 years under his name. Survived by: his wife; two sons, Rick (Chris) of Quincy, Ill., and Scott (Peggy) of New Hampton; a daughter, Julie (Steve) Lang of New Hampton; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a brother, Kenny (Thelma) of New Hampton. Preceded in death by: two sons, Curtis and David. Services: 4:30 p.m. Saturday in the social hall at United Methodist Church, New Hampton, with inurnment in the spring at the New Hampton City Cemetery. Public visitation from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at Hugeback & Chenoweth Funeral Home, New Hampton.
